The funeral for George Dewey Moran, 62, of Athens, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Spry Funeral Home with Matt Taylor and Melissa Belt officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Moran died Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at home. George Moran was born April 12, 1950, in Limestone County.
He retired from the Limestone County Board of Education. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Glenda Moran; and son, Heath Moran.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Moran of Athens; daughters, Melissa Belt and husband Lance, and Paula Smith and husband Billy, all of Athens; son, Patrick Holt and wife Rhonda of Cullman; sisters, Margie Sandlin and Mary Price, both of Trinity; grandchildren, Trey Lankster and wife Tarah, Anyston Belt, Courtney Moran, Ben Moran, Preston Smith, Olivia Smith, Cora Smith, Sydney Holt and Payton Holt; great-grandson, Aiden Lankster; and nieces and nephews.
