He was born in the Ringgold community in Pulaski County, May 16, 1955, son of the late Hobert and Ruby Bell Ard.
Survivors include three brothers, Robert "Buck" (and Verna) Ard, Elza (and Wanda) Ard and Arthur "Root" (and Wilma) Ard, all of Somerset; three sisters. Linda (and Bobby) Mattox and Betty (and Wayne) Ping, both of Somerset, and Mildred (and Glen) Leisure, Summitt, Ill.; a host of nieces, nephews, friends and the caregivers at Britthaven.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Leslie "Les" Ard and Donald Girdler.
Funeral services will be noon Thursday, March 20, at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, with Bro. Larry Butte officiating.
Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Somerset.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. today until time for services.
Memorials may be made to Special Olympics.
