Harold Steven Davis, 61 of Grand Saline, passed away on August 18, 2010. He was born on October 10, 1948 to the late Harold L. Davis and Billie Worth Vickery Davis. He was born and raised in Grand Saline where he discovered his love of athletics while attending Grand Saline High School. Steve lettered in four sports. He received many athletic honors in football and basketball, including setting five gym records at the Terrell Christmas Basketball Tournament. Steve continued his education and love of athletics at Tarleton State University; where he lettered four years in football. He received his Bachelors Degree from Texas A&M Commerce in 1989 and returned to Tarleton where he received his Master of Education degree in 1996. Steve's years as an educator and coach took him to Burleson, Tarleton State University, the University of Mary Hardin Baylor, Nacogdoches and his career was completed at Oakwood ISD. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Harold L. & Billie Vickery Worth Davis; and brother, Donald Gregory Davis.
Steve leaves Gail Savage Davis, his high school sweetheart and wife of 37 years; one son, Shane and wife June of Irving; daughter, Ashley and husband Jef Beyer of Clovis NM; five grandchildren, Mackenzie, Scott and Drew Davis and Jordan and Jeter Beyer; in-laws, Bud and Nita Savage of Grand Saline; sister-in-law, Lynn and husband Rick Loughry; two nephews, Chip and Neil Ferguson; and numerous other relative and many, many friends.
