Kary managed the Wall ranch and farm operations north of Elida first for his father and later in partnership with his brother Embry. After Embry's death in 1965 the partnership was dissolved. Embry's daughter Lela Jo (Red) Halliday assumed possession of half of the property and Kary's daughter Geneva Daugherty the other half. Kary and Vera retired to Ruidoso, NM. They later moved to Rosewell, NM.
An enthusiastic sports fan, Kary accompanied Elida High's teams to their games. He was a Mason and was active in the community.
