Mr. Young passed away at his winter home located at 4403 Pinetree Drive, Miami Beach, FL. He was a member of the Surf Club, La Gorce Country Club, and the committee of 100.

In the late 1920s, Detroit architects Bingman & Davidson built this physical activities building in a matching design across the driveway from the main house. It includes an Olympic-size swimming pool, locker rooms, gymnasium area with ceramic-tile floor and a fireplace. Its basement has a 2-lane bowling alley and a billiards room. Central air was added at some point, judging by roof equipment in aerial view. After 1967, later-owner Berry Gordy, Jr., upgraded the bowling to fully-automatic Brunswick. The building and interiors can be seen on many websites.

Italian Renaissance Revival house (except for building at left) built at 918 W. Boston Blvd., Detroit, in 1917 for Nels Michelson, who died in 1925, after which L. A. Young bought it and improved it. The right (East) wing of the house was originally built as a carport; Young had it enclosed and made into a living room. He also replaced the front and rear entry doors with bronze, added a living room fireplace with intricately carved marble, marble fountain in the solarium, marble basement ballroom and custom light fixtures throughout. The house and interiors can be seen on many websites.
The house was sold after Young's death.
