Doris was born on July 31, 1941, in Monticello, to Harley Ralph and Thelma (Miller) Kendall.
She graduated from Monticello High School in 1959. On March 6, 1960, she married Larry Zarse at St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds. Larry survives.
Doris retired from Home Hospital where she had worked as a coordinator in food service for over 20 years. She had previously worked for Twin Lakes School Corporation for 11 years.
She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Lafayette, the Sorority Club, and the Home Ec Club. Doris loved to read, watch sports, especially the Colts and Purdue, and she loved her grandchildren.
Doris is survived by her husband, Larry; her mother, Thelma Kendall of Fort Wayne; and her children, Richard Zarse (wife: Julie) of West Lafayette, Elaine Davis (husband: Paul) of Lafayette, and Pamela Wilson of Redford, Mich.; brothers, Mike Kendall (wife: Margo) of Fort Wayne and Rick Kendall (wife: Marilyn) of Goochland, Va.; and a sister, Mary Kendall (friend: Nancy) of Fort Wayne. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; and 1 step-great-grandson.
Services will be held on Thursday, January 10, at 1 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church with Pastor French and Pastor Salemink officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or to St. James Lutheran Church in memory of Doris.
