HABEEB Alma Genevieve Habeeb - a 97 year-old native and resident of Mobile passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, January 7, 2013. Alma owned and operated Smart Shoes Stores and Pic-N-Sav Shoes for 62 years, retiring at the age of 86. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies' Altar Sodality. Alma was a lay member of the Sisters of St. Agnes and was a charter member and past-president of the Lebanese-American Club of Mobile. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ethel Mohanna Habeeb, and six siblings: Rose Habeeb Hawie, Joseph Alex Habeeb, Thomas Anthony Habeeb, Michael Herbert Habeeb, Adele Habeeb Kahalley, and George Mansour Habeeb. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Doris Habeeb, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends. The family members would like to express their deep appreciation to the wonderful ladies who cared for Alma during her illness, especially Rochell Dortch, Arlene Volnoff, Willie Mae Moody, April Carter, and Shirley Ifill. They would also like to send a special thank you to Sister Magdalena of St. Mary Parish for her loving attention and care. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mary Catholic Church on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Friday, January 11, from 5-8 p.m. with the Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, 1453 Old Shell Rd., Mobile, AL 36604 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105. Concelebrants were Reverend Monsignor G. Warren Wall, Reverend Monsignor Peter J. Cunningham, Reverend Monsignor Kenneth Klepac and Reverend Joseph Bolling. Deacon Ernest Johnson. Pallbearers were Alex Petro, Michael Powell, Gene Petro, Charles Kahalley, Vincent Petro, Ray Patton, Liam Petro and Brandon Powell. Interment was in Pine Crest Cemetery. Arrangements by RADNEY FUNERAL HOME, 3155 Dauphin St., Ext., Mobile, AL 36606
