His wife, Eugenia Tolson, applied for a Texas Confederate Widow's pension out of Harris County, Texas in 1925 and she gave her husband's death as October 8, 1915 in Harris County, Texas. John Henry Blake served in the Confederate Army in Blake's Scouts and his parole gave his residence in 1865 as Lexington, Holmes County, Mississippi.
