Marvin was born to James Robert & Blanche Lena (Bowers) Brown on the family farm in the Ditch Valley area south of Englewood, KS & north of Rosston, OK.

During WWII, Marvin served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a gunner on the USS Jefferson Meyers & a part of the famous Murmansk Run, a voyage to North Russia. The mission was very dangerous with hazards of storms, artic ice & the enemy -- a number of crew members as well as other ships on the Run did not survive. Merchant ships steamed into the stormy artic facing the relentless enemy to deliver their supplies on the Russian Front in the Barents Sea & White Sea at the ports of Archangel & Murmansk. Marvin was a man who loved his country & it brought tears to his eyes & sadness to his heart when people would not remove their hats or place their hands over their hearts in honor of our flag & anthem, or for those who had served & lost their lives protecting ours.

Marvin met & married the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, Barbara Lane. She married him to get him to quit "bugging" her. The rest is the history before us today. Marvin loved his wife & family; he enjoyed spending time with them & friends. He liked spending time playing cards with Marty & Joretta Terry & Orie & Shirley Goodnight.

Marvin was a hard working man all of his life. He was a man of integrity & honesty - you could take his word to the bank. He was a gentle, kind, quiet man. Marvin was a Master Mason.

Marvin liked summer vacations in South Fork & Durango, CO. He loved bacon & eggs, jalapeno peppers & grapefruit. His favorite was a jalapeno & cheese pizza at the Conoco made by his special cooks.

He never expressed defeat or pain. If asked how he was doing he always replied "OK". Marvin was never a complainer.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Elton & his sisters Evelyn & Arlene. He is survived by his wife Barbara of the home, Kim & Mary Brown of Gate, OK, Pamela & Mike Millender Tardy of Amarillo, TX, Russell & Julie Taylor & Jackie & Betty Taylor all of Gage, OK.

Marvin lived a long, loving & beautiful life as son, brother, husband, father & grandfather. We grieve upon his passing but embrace our fond memories & feel truly blessed.

Memorial donations given in Marvin's name may be given to the Rosston Methodist Church, P.O. Box 612 in Laverne, OK 73848.
