SALUDA — Dorothy Lee Addy Grigsby, 89, of 271 Grigsby Circle, died Sunday, March 16, 2008, in Saluda Nursing Center.
Born in Batesburg and a daughter of the late Samuel Roland Elwell and Willie Lee Etheredge Addy, she was reared by the late Mrs. Lois C. Matheny Addy and was the wife of the late J.L. Grigsby. Mrs. Grigsby attended Lander College and graduated from Newberry College. She taught in public schools for thirty years. She was a volunteer receptionist for several years at Saluda Nursing Center. She was a member of Emory United Methodist Church, where she was a choir member for fifty years and former Sunday school teacher and a member of the Women's Missionary Society.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria G. and Jack Reames of Abbeville; a son, Joe Lester Grigsby of Saluda; two grandchildren and a grandson-in-law, Johnson Reames, and Dorothy R. and Ricky Odom, all of Abbeville; and three great-grandchildren, Taylor Odom, Leanna Odom and Deakon Odom.
A brother, Frank E. Addy Sr., and a sister, Mildred M. Stevens, preceded Mrs. Grigsby in death.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Emory United Methodist Church with Rev. Joyce Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Ramey Funeral Home.
