George J. Lake, 63, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 4, 2013, at his home.

George was born November 14, 1949 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to George Ray Lake and Jessie Mahan Lake. He grew up in the Idaho Falls area and attended elementary schools in Osgood and Shelley, then graduated from Glens Ferry High School.

He attended University of Idaho, then earned his Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy and Master's of Business Administration Degree from Idaho State University. Throughout the years he has lived in Idaho Falls, Roberts, Shelley, Glenns Ferry, and Moscow, Idaho.

In 1980 he married Sandra Gomm Kalakay and they had four children: George, John, James and Jessica. They were later divorced.

In his youth George worked with his father as one of the first commercial onion growers in Idaho. He custom farmed with his brother, Bailey, all over Idaho and Nevada and later developed a seed potato farm in Driggs. He owned a cow and calf operation and farmed and ranched for many years, as well as working for Spur Cattle Company. As his education increased he advanced to his current position as a Vice President at Idahoan Foods.

George was a member of the Idaho Falls Calvary Chapel and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed the outdoors, playing the guitar, hiking, biking, golfing, bowling, fishing, skiing, and organic farming. George loved to be with his children and grandchildren. His last year was among his happiest, in great part due to his companion, Patty Wulf.

George is survived by his daughters: Angie (Chris) Goodwin and Jessica Lake, both of Idaho Falls; sons: George Lake and John (Stephanie) Lake, both of Idaho Falls, and James (Kaytlin) Lake, of Rigby; brothers: Ace (Susan) Lake, of Lyman, Lynn (Monique) Lake, of Rigby, and Bailey Lake, of Idaho Falls; seven grandchildren: Brendyn, Tayah, Karston and Jarom Goodwin, and Taylin, Taysin, and soon to be born, James Ray Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Leslie Lake.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Calvary Chapel, 4250 South 25th East, with Assistant Pastor Gordon Boyle officiating. The family will visit with friends from Noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Heart Association, 1710 Gilbreth Road, Burlingame, CA 94010-1795, or online at www.heart.org.
