Sarah was born on the Bourn farm 6 miles south of Sedalia. She married William Henry Yankee November 24, 1861 and had 3 children born in Sedalia:
Elgin Stowell Yankee Dec 18, 1862
Mary Anne Yankee Mar 26 1865
Evalina Yankee April 10, 1869

They moved to Colorado in 1873 along with her sister's family (Margaret Emerine (Bourn) Crawford), the founders of Steamboat Springs, CO. The Yankee family ended up living on Highland Park, just off Federal Blvd.
