Note that this area became Pamlico County in 1872. The above post office of Jackson actually became incorporated as "Stonewall" in 1870 presumably named after General T.J. "Stonewall" Jackson and became Pamlico Co.'s first post office.
In March 1893, Thomas & Ann Broughton, J.S. Linton, et. al. brought a lawsuit against Stephen B. Lane & others pertaining to a land dispute. This action actually begin in 1891.
