JOHNNY CLYDE DEAN, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away January 3, 2013, surrounded by his family.

J.C. (as he was affectionately known) is preceded in death by his three brothers, Alphus Dean, Milton Dean and Ray Dean; father, Conley Dean and his mother, Aline Durand Johnson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Nellie Stemmann Dean; their four children, Sandy Ng (Dennis), Carolyn Dean (Gabriel), Milton Dean (Lori) and Kenneth Dean (Andrea) as well as 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, along with further extended family and innumerable friends, all of whom will miss him immensely.

Johnny was born in Alexandria, Louisiana on June 27, 1928. After graduating from Oak Hill High School in 1946, he joined the U.S. Navy where he proudly served our country on the island of Guam as a Seabee during World War II. After his military service he graduated from Southwestern Louisiana Institute with a Bachelor's of Science in chemistry. It was in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he began his employment with City Service, that he met his beautiful wife, Nellie Stemmann. They fell in love and were married after three and a half months, on April 12, 1958. They moved to Houston, where Johnny worked as an analytical chemist for Petro-Tex Chemical (Bayer Chemical) and retired from Bayer in 1991, with over 30 years of service.

Johnny (Paw-Paw) had a passion for gardening, backyard BBQs, fishing and visiting in his garage with family, friends and neighbors and enjoyed assisting with and coaching various youth sports teams. He was always there for everyone. Paw-Paw loved to be outdoors with family and friends, which allowed him to reminisce of his childhood. The love and gratitude he bestowed upon his family was an integral part of his daily life. He was so proud of all his children and grandchildren and his beloved memory will be cherished always.

The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this most difficult time.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 11th from 6:00 to 8:00pm, with a rosary/vigil service at 7:00pm at Niday-Fairmont Funeral Home in Pasadena. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, January 12th at 11:00am at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster.
