Paul was born on August 17 1932, in Wichita County, Kansas, the tenth child of Elzy George and Mary Eliza (Lonberger) Burch. He grew up south of Selkirk on a family farm and attended Selkirk Grade School and graduated from Leoti, Kansas, in Wichita County. On August 23, 1957, he married Vera Ruth Beedy in Tribune, Kansas, and they settled in Coolidge, Kansas, where he went to work for a local farmer to continue his passion for farming. Over the next few years, they added four children to their family. Paul and Vera Ruth moved to Blackwell in 1967 for the health of their son, Rodney. Paul worked as a night shift mechanic at the Acme Foundry and later at Electron Corporation where he retired in 1994, all the while continuing to farm. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Blackwell.
He is survived by his wife, Vera Ruth of the home; two daughters, Sharon Yust and husband Dave of Del Norte, Colorado, and Penni Baker and husband David of Kennesaw, Georgia; a son, Wesley Burch and wife Kellie of Ponca City, Oklahoma; a sister, Daisy Fern Conley of Russell, Kansas; and four grandchildren whom he adored, Matthew and Rachel Baker of Kennesaw, Georgia, and Emma and Allison Burch of Ponca City, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rodney Earl Burch; five brothers, Alva, Harley, Arthur Lee, Glen "Bing", and George William Burch; and three sisters, Mary Hayzlett, Rosie Crittenden and Eunice Ellis.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 10th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with the Rev. Herb Berkley of the First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be David Baker, Matt Baker, Mark Steelmon, Dick Baker, Joe Reynolds and Randy Burch. Serving as honorary casketbearers will be Kenny Levings, Dayle McGaha, A. C. Pratt and Jack Clinkingbeard.
