Katherine was born as Kateřina Kusbachová on 29 April 1881 at Stará Pasečnice 32, Domažlice, Plzeňský kraj, in Bohemia (current Czech Republic), daughter of Václav Kusbach (James Kousbaugh) and Barbora Krinesová. With her parents and two sister, she arrived in America on 23 June 1882 on the SS "Leipzig" at the Port of Baltimore, first settling in Franklin (later known as Stangelville), Kewaunee County, Wisconsin, and then moving to Nahma in 1886. She married Josef Jiří (Joseph George) Krutina on 15 April 1908 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Escanaba.

She had been in ill health for several years. | Mrs. Krutina was born April 29, 1881 in Czechoslovakia, and came to the United States as a child settling in Stangleville, Wis. She had been a resident of Nahma for 72 years. | The was a member of St. Andrew's Church. Her husband, Joseph Krutina, preceded her in death in 1953. | Survivors include one son, James F. of Nahma; one daughter, Mrs. William (Marie) Rogers, also of Nahma; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Rider of Marquette and Mrs. Margaret Muhlback of Lakeville, Ohio; and one brother, Martin Kousbaugh of Nahma. Another sister, Mrs. Barbara Plude, died in March of this year. | The body was taken to the Allo Funeral Home were arrangements are incomplete."
