Mrs. Olena Beata Alm died last Friday evening April 12, 1901 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S. J. Odel. Mrs. Alm was a good christian lady, and had at her death reached the age of 82 years, 5 months and 30 days. During the past winter she was more than usually feeble, not being able to be around much, and reclined mostly during the last five months. Nearly three years ago she lost her sight. At the home of her daughter where she died she has had the best of care, which she appreciated. She was not specially sick more than a part of the day on which she died. The cause of her death was probably old age. The funeral was held last Sunday afternoon at the Lutheran Church. Her remains were laid to rest at the Salem Lutheran cemetery. Mrs. Alm was at her death the oldest person in the Settlement, and she was one of the very few to live to see her posterity to the fifth generation. She has a little great, great grandson three years old.
