Services for Dayton native Bertha E. Magness, 84, were Monday afternoon, Nov. 22, 1976, at Hopewell Community Church with the Rev. Charles Ludwig officiating.
Interment was in Hopewell Cemetery.
Miss Magness died Nov. 18 at McMinnville Hospital.
She was born in Dayton on Jan. 7, 1892, the daughter of Robert N. and Ollie Barendrick Magness. She attended the old Dalles College and was a teacher for Amity and Hopewell schools.
Miss Magness spent five years in China as a teacher. She later taught at McKinley Junior High School in Salem for 12 years, retiring in 1942.
Survivors include brothers Howard Magness, Sherwood, and John Magness, Tacoma Park, Maryland; and sisters, Virginia Magness, McMinnville, Carrie Baker, Canby, and Adeline Underhill, Dufur.
