Reidsville – Clarence L. "Sam" Amoriello, 88, of 2423 Wentworth Street, died on January 4, 2013, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, January 7, 2013, at 2:00 P.M. at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Clarence, better known as Sam, died at the home he shared with his wife, Barbara for 60 years. Sam never met a stranger and was best known as a pitcher for the Reidsville Luckies. He never missed a day walking the Chinqua Penn trail with his favorite walking stick. Sam served 4 years in the US Navy serving the South Pacific during World War II. He was a volunteer for the Wentworth Fire Department and enjoyed deer hunting. Sam was retired from Duke Energy at Belews Creek with over 35 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his only daughter, Annette Fowler.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Roach Amoriello of the home; granddaughters, Nicole M. Kelly and husband, Blair of Wilmington NC and Megan Fowler of Durham; great grand-daughter, Addison Kelly; and son-in-law, Chris Fowler of Aberdeen, NC; many special friends including care giver, Cindy Roach Comer.

There will be no formal visitation, the family will be receiving freinds at the home.
