Born June 23, 1941, in Alliance, he lived here all of his life. He was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church.
Butch received his education at North Lincoln Elementary School and Stanton Jr. High, and was a 1960 graduate of Alliance High School. Immediately following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and served our country from 1960 to 1964.
Upon returning home to Alliance, he was employed at B & W Tube. Through the years, he achieved the position of foreman of the welding department. He retired in 1999 from Alliance Tubular Products as safety superintendent.
Butch was a member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge 457 and was also a member of the Sleepy Hollow Country Club. He was an avid golfer and had hit a hole-in-one at Tannenhauf Golf Course. A baseball coach for the Alliance Hot Stove League for many years, he had once been a state tournament director.
Butch was a man who, throughout his life, would help anyone, most of the time without them knowing who it was that stepped forward. He had been a "Secret Santa" to many people.
He was a wonderful craftsman, especially in woodworking, and loved helping his kids with projects around their homes.
A great husband and father, he simply loved his family. He cherished his time with his grandchildren and participating with them in various events. But most importantly, he took care of his mother, especially in recent years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife and childhood sweetheart, Joyce L. (Zaina) Muniz, whom he married on July 6, 1963; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Joy Muniz of Alliance; his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Daren Balderson of Alliance; four grandchildren, Brock and Bailey Balderson, and Kyleigh and Taylor Muniz; his mother, Evelyn M. (Fox) Muniz of Alliance; two aunts, Dorothy (Richard) Clark and Aileen New, both of Alliance; sister-in-law and niece, Patty Saliola and Danielle Kreuzer of Canton; nephew, Louis Zaina of Albuqerque, N.M.; and his brothers-in-law, Jim (Dottie) Brush and Bill (Nan) Brush, both of Alliance; and many, many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of friends.
Preceding him in death were his father, Angelo "Kello" Muniz, in 1974; his father-in-law, Louis "Gee Gee" Zaina; mother-in-law, Edith Zaina; and two brothers-in-law, Bert Zaina and Jerry Brush.
Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
