Walter Hudson Cornelius died at his home in Saltillo, Dec 28, 1916. His death was due to paralysis and heart failure. He had been confined to the house for nearly two years. He was a son of Peter and Mary Cornelius and was a resident of Saltillo practically all his life. He was united in marriage to Amanda W. Kough on March 19, 1861. To this union, twelve children were born, six sons and six daughters: Edwin S, Saltillo; Harry, Todd; John, Roaring Springs; Mrs. William Connor, Greensburg; Mrs. Grant Ramsey, Coalmont; Mrs. Albert Foore, Robertsdale; Rufus S, Mt. Union; Miles W, Saltillo; Mrs. Frank Winters, Six Mile Run; Ross, Saltillo, and Mrs. Charles Chamberlain, Wood. Mattie died in infancy. His widow survives. There are fifty grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. The deceased was a member o fthe M.P.Church for more than fifty-five years and was the first class leader in Saltillo. He was a farmer and teamster the greater part of his life. He filled the office of school director several terms and was an ardent supporter of Governor Brumbaugh when he ran for County Superintendent. Uncle Walter, as he was best known, was the oldest man in Saltillo, being aged 78 years, seven months and two days. The funeral, which was very large, took place on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the M.E. Church, conducted by Rev. Samuel McClain, assisted by Rev. D. J. R. Strayer. Interment will be in the Saltillo Cemetery.
