Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jane Hewitt, 89, were held at the Hopewell United Brethern church, October 9 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. B. Earle Parker officiating. McMinnville Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements. Interment was in the Hopewell cemetery.
Surviving are three daughters, Olive Smith of McMinnville, route two, Leeta Coats, Dayton, route one, and Sylva Kerr of McMinnville, route two; two sons, Roy R. Hewitt of Salem and Elmer E. Hewitt of Albany; one brother, Billy Rose of Washtuchena, Wash.; one sister, Martha Royse of Tacoma, Wash. And also seven grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was the daughter of Eli and Katherine Rose and was born in Missouri in 1857 and came to Oregon county with her parents at the age of four by wagon train. She was united in marriage to James Andrew Hewitt, son of another pioneer family.
