Constance Karen Adams Hanney
(May 28, 1936 - January 2, 2013)

LAYTON – Constance Karen Adams Hanney, 76, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2013, from Pancreatic Cancer. She fought a courageous and miraculous 2 ½ year battle, defying the odds with grace and dignity.

She was born May 28, 1936 in Morgan, Utah, the daughter of Kenneth T. and Gwendolyn Geary Adams.

Connie married Dean J. Hanney on March 4, 1955 in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden Temple in May 1982. She was a devoted Snow Creek Ward member where she gave her Relief Society lessons until the very end.

Connie worked at HAFB in many positions, retiring as the Chief of Substance Abuse. She won many awards during her years of service, she was especially proud of the Geico Civilian of the Year award which she traveled to Washington D.C. to receive. She volunteered for Davis County Mental Health as a counselor for many years and saved countless lives with her firm but gentle guidance. She loved traveling to Yellowstone and Disneyland with the grandkids, shopping, walking in the mall, and dressing to the nines.

Connie was widowed on October 31, 2012 with the passing of Dean. Surviving are her son Val Dean (Rene) Hanney of So. Weber; four daughters, Terry Hanney Hampton of Roy; Denise Hanney (Bart) Ignash of Layton; Darla Hanney of Layton; Dana Hanney of Draper; 11 grandchildren, Brennan (Brandon), Zoe (Spencer) and Reyna (raised by grandma and grandpa), Tarah, Chelsa (Tyson), Colt, Trae, Stone, Jude, Wyatt and Samantha, great-granddaughters, BrookLynn and Piper, four sisters, Alice (Lloyd, Deceased) Preece of Morgan; Iris (Butch) Heiner of Morgan; Marcia (Gary) Leak of Porterville; Sylvia (Doug) Germer of Vanderhoof, BC; and three brothers, Ken (Marie) Adams of Porterville; Les (Gaylene) Adams of Porterville; and Chet (Joan) Adams of Porterville.

Preceded in death by her parents, Ken and Gwen.

Connie will be missed by her family, she loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchilden unconditionally.

Special thanks to Dr. Harold Johnson and his staff at Utah Hematology and Oncology for 2 ½ years of loving care and the friendships made, the staff of the McKay-Dee Hospital Medical Floor, and IHC Hospice, for the excellent care mother received.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist's Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
