Mr. James Alexander, Fryar, Jr. "PaPaw", "Junior", "Milkman", of Gibsonville, NC, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 3 pm Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Peace Lutheran Church, Gibsonville, conducted by Reverend Chris Johnson and Reverend Allen Myers. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Fryar was born December 28, 1927 in Guilford County to the late James Alexander Fryar, Sr. and Vannie Karon Isley. After graduating from McLeansville High School, he continued to farm. He met his wife, Virginia Welch Fryar. They married January 6, 1951 and after 59 years of marriage, she predeceased him on October 10, 2010. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council, as well as the financial, cemetery and property committees. He was instrumental in helping start the McLeansville Fire Department and was retired as a volunteer.

He and his brother, Bill (deceased), co-owned and operated the former family dairy (Mur-Rock Farm) which had been started by their parents. Later he and his wife owned/operated Mur-Rock Grocery. Then in 1966 he and Virginia began their new business of Fryar Ambulance Service and continued that operation until their retirement in 1985. Mr. Fryar was a member of the Woodmen of the World, Lodge #26 and also was a member of the NRA.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Virginia Welch Fryar, sister, Margaret Louise Fryar, brother, William Alexander Fryar and step-son, Ronald Milton Boyers.

Mr. Fryar is survived by his son, James A. Fryar, III and daughter, Janice F. Buckner (William) both of Gibsonville, NC; five grandchildren: Jeff Boyers of Randleman, NC; Jennifer Gullett (Brian) of Salisbury, NC; Greg Buckner (Sarah) of Gibsonville, NC; Kevin Buckner of Gibsonville, NC; and Amber Rickards (Zack) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; 2 great grandchildren: Cole Boyers and Addison Boyers both of Randleman, NC and one step great grandson, Wyatt Hughes of Gibsonville, N.C. He is also survived by one sister, Alene Lewis (Tony) of New London.; also nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 5, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, Gibsonville, N.C. and other times at the home of the son.
