Miriam Gwendolyn Bagley Eccles passed away on Dec. 12, 2012 in Southern California after several years of battling Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on Jan. 10, 1931 to Charles Stuart and Miriam Gwendolyn Granger Bagley. Her early school years were spent in Cottonwood, Utah; Nevada; Salt Lake City; and New Mexico. After attending the University of Utah and graduating from Brigham Young University, she took a teaching job in Pomona, California. Southern California became her home and there she taught for thirty plus years. She met her husband, Delbert Eccles, on a cruise to Europe. They were married March 22, 1958; later divorced. They had two children, David Stuart and Miriam (Mimi) Gwen Eccles. Through the years, Gwen has enjoyed her many friends and family. She has seen much of the world during her various travels and loved going to the opera. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; she served in many callings. She always considered her greatest blessings to be her children and her grandchildren.
She is survived by son, David (Sharon) Eccles; daughter, Mimi (Mike) Spencer; eight grandchildren; and brothers, Corydon S. (Gloria), Henry (Bertelle) and Martin Bagley. Preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Florence.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State Street, in Murray, Utah at 11:30 a.m., with a viewing from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Burial will be at Elysian Burial Gardens.
