BOWER SERVICES HELD THURSDAY
Long-Time Hopewell Resident Passes
Mrs. Emma Amelia Bower, 77, resident of the Hopewell district for the past 30 years, died in a local hospital Monday morning after a short illness. Funeral rites were held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 p.m. at Macy and Son chapel, with interment following in Hopewell cemetery.
Mrs. Bower was born August 6, 1863, in Minnesota. In 1886 she was married to the late William Bower, who died in 1915.
Children Survive
Surviving are one son, Reuel Bower, Silver Lake, Ore., and five daughters, Mrs. Pearl Rodeck, Klamath Falls; Mrs. Melissa Smith and Mrs. Della Bottger, Portland; Mrs. Luella Vincent, Sheridan, and Mrs. Marietta Robinson, Dayton. Another son, William M., was lost during the World war, and is listed on the Yamhill county memorial on the courthouse square.
One sister, Mrs. Etta Young, Devils Lake, N.D., and three half-brothers and four half-sisters, also survive, including Ezra Nash, Myrtle Point; Oram Nash, California; John Nash, Milwaukie; Mrs. Frank Campbell, Hopewell; Mrs. Clyde Lafollette, Wheatland; Mrs. Neil Versteeg, Dayton and Mrs. Grace Finley, Tigard.
