E.M. Jennings Dies at Local Hospital

Enoch M. Jennings, a well known resident of the north country, died at the Deaconesss hospital Saturday evening, Sept. 30, death being caused by cancer of the liver. Besides immediate family, a brother, A.W. Jennings of Centralia, Wash., and a niece, Mrs. A.J. Mills of Great Falls, were with him almost constantly during the days of his illness.

On Tuesday at one o'clock, funeral services were held at the Methodist church. Interment was made in Highland cemetery.

Enoch Milton Jennings was born in Liberty, Vernon county, Wisconsin, Nov. 15, 1856. He passed the early part of his youth at that place and in the year 1876 was married to Miss Stella Tate, also a resident of Liberty. Eight children were born to them, one girl and seven boys, the girl and two boys dying in infancy. For several years Mr. and Mrs. Jennings lived at various places in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Kansas, finally moving to Montana in 1910. Since that time they have made their home in the north country near Baylor.

Mr. Jennings possessed a kindly, genial spirit and was a valued factor in the community life of the north country. The large crowd of people in attendance at the funeral was evidence of the high esteem in which he was held.

Aside from his wife, Mr. Jennings leaves five sons: Enoch E. Jennings of Whitefish, and Ellis, Milo, Noah and Alvah Jennings, all highly respected and prosperous residents of the north country. Two brothers, A.W. Jennings of Centralia, Wash., and Ellis Jennings of Graceville, Minn., and a sister, Mrs. William Silbaugh of Readstone, Wis., also survive the deceased. A host of friends extend sympathy to the family and relatives.
