ABEL – BROOKS


Miss Mabel M. Abel, Redding township, and Charles A. Brooks, of this city, were quietly married at 3:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon by Rev. T. C. Smith at his residence, 306 West Fifth street.

The bride wore a dark blue traveling suit with hat and accessories to match.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Abel, north of this city, and for several years has taught in the Redding township schools. She is a graduate of the local high school with the class of 1915.

Mr. and Mrs. Brooks will reside in this city.

Young Mother Succumbs At Home In Woodstock Early This Morning.
FUNERAL RITES SUNDAY


Mrs. Mabel Abell Brooks, age 31, died at her home in Woodstock shortly after 3 o'clock this morning. She had been ill since before Christmas and death was attributed to a complication of diseases.

Funeral services will be held at the Woodstock Baptist church at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in charge of the Rev. George Dick with burial in Riverview cemetery.

Mrs. Brooks was born in Redding township just north of Rockford on June 3, 1897, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Abell. The mother survives. In 1920 she was united in marriage to Charles Brooks here in Seymour, and spent practically her entire life time in and near Seymour.

Besides the mother, the husband and three children, Alva Neal, age 7; Virginia Jeanette, age 6; and Francis Glenn, age 3. A brother, Everett Abell, of Seymour; four sisters, Mrs. Emma Standfield; Mrs. Sylvia Toborg; Miss Carrie Abell and Miss Margaret Abell, all of Seymur, also survive.
