Elroy Amos, son of Orville Broughton and Mary Jane (Wright) of Swan/St. Johns, IN. Married Augusta Sophia Peters December 25, 1888 at Dorchester, Saline, NE. Professional musician early on in life, he was bandmaster at the Kearney School for Boys, Kearney NE in the 80's. Homesteaded at Haxtun CO in 1889 during which time while proving out the homestead, served as the second Postmaster of Haxtun from Dec 21, 1889 to March 30, 1895. Additionally, he served as night agent for the depot in Fleming CO. He became Depot Agent at Venango NE in 1895 through the 1910's, Postmaster, Venango in the 10's, 20's and 30's.
