Alan Richard Scott was born on 5/25/1952, to the late Lee Ondres Scott and Hazel Rice Scott of Hackensack, NJ. As a child, Richard began his Christian training at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Hackensack, then under the pastorship of the Rev. T.W. Gibson. His primary education would begin at the Beech Street Elementary School. Upon the family's relocation to Paterson, NJ, young Richard would continue his primary at P.S. 10 and secondary education at Eastside High School. He would later earn a GED
And attend community college majoring in psychology.

Richard was an extraordinary musical talent, both singing and playing the bass guitar. He would go on to be a member of several Paterson area bands; Chocolate Syrup, Copasetic, and the Main attraction. Richard's other interest involved horticulture, where he was an expert green thumb, the art of macramé and cooking.

Richard met his significant other in Poughkeepsie, NY; Dolores Bethea. They would attend Sunday school at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, eventually being baptized under the pastorship of the Rev. E. Clayton Wade. Richard would go on to participate in the church's musical department by playing bass guitar.

Richard leaves to mourn, his mother Hazel Rice Scott, daughter JoAnn Singletary and Jenna Baker and her husband Derrick Baker. His sibling's,
David Scott and his wife Clarice of Decatur, Ga, JoAnn Scott, Gregory Scott and William Scott all of Hackensack. As well as Valerie Wilson of Virginia and Gloria Baskett of North Carolina. His beloved grandchildren , nieces and nephew's and family.
