Earl Bankhead Rites In Lancaster
Funeral services for Mojave resident Earl Thomas Bankhead are being held today at the Halley-Olsen Mortuary in Lancaster at 11 a.m. with Bishop Jack Caulder and speaker Ronald Lee of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints officiating. Interment will be at the Mojave Cemetery in Mojave.
Earl was born Nov. 10, 1915, at Galena, Kansas, but has been a California resident since the 1930s. He worked at the Golden Queen mine untiI he joined the Paratroops in 1942. After returning home from the service he took up residence in the Los Angeles area and moved back to Mojave this year.
Surviving are his wife: Claudia, four sons, Earl Thomas Jr. or Albuquerque, New Mexico; Walter Lee of Spokane, Wash.; Michael Thomas of Indio, Ca.; and Mark Kurtis of Bell Gardens.; one daughter, Beth Ann Kies of El Monte, Ca.; and 12 grandchildren.
Other survivors include two brothers and four sisters. Ernest Dee of Mojave and George of Buena Park; Nellie Danel of Lancaster, Mary Paxsley of Portland, Ore, Edith Tibbet of North Carolina and Betty Dyke of Mojave. Earl passed away Oct. 14, 1973 in the Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster.
