Ephraim Elijah BEMIS passed away at his home in Findley Lake, Wednesday October 15 1924 at the age of 80-9-6
after an illness of 5 and a half days. He was born near WATTSBURG Erie CO PA March 29, 1844, enrolled as a volunteer in the Co D Wisconsin Vol (see record)
He fought is some of the hardest battles of the war, and was given an honorable discharge as Lt Sept,. 20, 1865
NOv 14 1865 he was united in marriage with Elizabeth MEREDITH by whom he had 9 children, that now live in Erie Co PA;
His 2nd marriage was consummated at Ripley ZChautauqua Co NY Dec 9, 1896 to Ida May ORCUTT by whom he had 8 more children.
Mr BEMIS has been a resident of Findley Lake for the past 25 years, and was a member of the Baptist Church.
Besides the widow, he leaves 7 children,
Mrs Paul BISBEE and Helen BEMIS of North East;
Lewis of Akron Ohio
John of Erie
Ross of Greenfield, (*1905-1950 Slab City Sherman)
Hilda and Hattie of Findley Lake,
and 7 Grandchildren
