"Charles A. Swisler, former Placerville Attorney and as a legislator from the district one of the founders of the present state highway system, died this week at Sacramento. Interment was in the Union Cemetery under Masonic auspices."

"Swisler Hill was named in remembrance of Charles Swisler, early land owner, miner, lawyer and Captain of Company H of the California National Guard - involved in the chase of the escaped felons - after the 1903 Folsom Prison break and the Battle of Manzanita Hill in Hanks Exchange."
