Reflections
By Evangeline "Lynn" Mullins Rice

I walked beside the mountains, And heard the waters singing, While birds nestled in the trees, Would soon their flight be winging.

O'er forest draped in shades of green, And fields of varied flowers, Whose fragrance seems to fill the air, Still fresh from morning showers.

I happily hummed a merry tune, And breathed the air so clear, I felt a peace and shed my gloom, I know that God was near.

The beauty of God's handiwork, A wonder to behold, And then I thought of heavenly things, The place where streets are gold.

Oh God forgive my lack of faith, And give me strength I pray, That by my walking close to thee, My steps may never stray.

And then when shades of evening fall, And I shed this mortal shell, I shall not fear to quit this life, I know that all is well.
