Anthony DeProfio, of Newton, passed away peacefully late Tuesday evening October 9, 2012 at the E.N. Rogers Veterans Memorial Hospital in Bedford at the age of 80.
Born on March 29, 1932 in Waltham; son of the late Guiseppe "Joseph" and Assunta (D'Abbenzio) DeProfio, Anthony was raised in Waltham and moved to West Newton as a young man and has resided ever since.
Anthony was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War.
After the war he returned as a young man and worked at DeVincent Farm in Waltham, later in life he was employed as a Laborer with Vappi Construction. Anthony was a member of the Laborer's Local Union.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed helping out at Leo J. Martin Golf Course in Weston. Anthony enjoyed eating at the Chateau Restaurant and spending time with his close friends at the Dunkin Donuts on Main Street in Waltham. He loved and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Beloved husband of the late Pauline T. (Greenwood) DeProfio and brother of the late Ann Spinelli, Joanne Bower, Mary "Rusty" Chaisson, Margaret Terrasi, Peter, Nicholas and James DeProfio.
He is survived by his loving children Joseph DeProfio and his wife Christine of Windsor, ME, Anthony DeProfio and his wife Donna of Hudson, Paula Ober and her husband Robert of Marlboro, Joanne DeProfio of Waltham and 5 step-children. Dear brother of Elizabeth "Betty" Chaisson of Hudson. In addition he is survived by 14 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.
Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels, 773 Moody Street, Waltham on Saturday morning Oct. 13th at 9:30 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Anthony's Life at Saint Bernard's Church, 1523 Washington Street, West Newton at 10:30 am. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting Hours will be held in the Funeral Home on Friday Oct. 12th from 4 - 7 pm. Parking attendants on duty.
