Mrs. Joan Werchowski, 78, of Floyd, New York, passed away in the early hours of Sunday, November 18, 2012, with her family by her side.

Joan was born Jo Ann Miklos on July 26, 1934, to Paul and Anna Wasko Miklos in Bayonne, New Jersey. After the untimely death of her parents, Joan was raised by her Uncle Michael and Aunt Marie Wasko Novak, also of Bayonne. Joan graduated from Bayonne High School in 1952, where she met her future husband, William J. Werchowski. Joan and Bill were married on September 19, 1954 at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Bayonne. Joan traveled with her husband as he rose through the ranks of the U.S. Air Force, living in San Antonio, Texas, and the Azores, before settling in Floyd. The couple had two children, Mark James and Jeffrey Scott.

Joan was predeceased by her husband, Bill; and her beloved aunt, Sally Wasko Guiton. Surviving is her older brother, Robert M. Miklos, of Honolulu, Hawaii; her son Mark, his wife, Jennifer, and their daughters, Alexis and Odessa, all of Oriskany, New York; and her son Jeffrey and his partner, Karen Chowaniec, of Long Pond, Pennsylvania. Also surviving are several cousins residing in New Jersey and a host of helpful friends and neighbors on Sandy Circle in Floyd.
