Ruby Lee Helen Hardt Miller, 88, of Beaumont, Texas, died Friday, December 28, 2012, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont.

Ruby was born on September 3, 1924, in Hondo, Texas, to Katherine Leinweber Hardt and Henry Lee Hardt. Ruby retired with the United States Department of Agriculture after 30 years of service.

She met Harold W. Miller on January 16, 1949 and married him on February 18, 1949. Ruby and Harold adopted Karen who was born on December 7, 1953. Karen was ten days old when she moved her residence to Ruby and Harold's home in San Antonio and has been the joy of their life from that time. Ruby gave her life to her Savior Jesus Christ in August 1948 and every day as His faithful servant. Ruby and Harold retired together on December 31, 1980, bought a motorhome and traveled for many years. The life they shared was a special close time until his death in November, 2007. Ruby and Harold never failed to give the Lord credit for their meeting and their years together which were made sweeter for their service to Him and, sweeter as the years went by.

She was a member of Campers on Mission who was a builder of campus and churches, and a witness for Jesus as she and Harold traveled the highways. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Brackettville, Texas.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen Miller of Lumberton; grandson, Chris Wiedner and his wife, Kelley, of Lumberton; great-grandchildren, Matthew Ortego, Taylor Ortego, Corey Ortego, Brandon Wiedner, and Emily Wiedner; sister, Lorene Smith and her husband August of San Antonio; and many nieces and nephews she dearly loved.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Miller; her parents; sister, Lydia Haby; and brothers, Alvin and A.V. "Bill" Hardt.

Interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
