Lena Mae Achord, a resident of Denham Springs, passed away at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at Summit Hospital in Baton Rouge. She was 79 and a member of Don Avenue Baptist Church in Denham Springs.

She is survived by three daughters, Margaret Carter, Theresa Ivanyisky and Darvise Achord; two sons, Bobby Achord and Steve Achord; a sister, Mildred Kelley; a brother, Lee Thornton; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Allen T.J. Achord, who was the first marshal of Denham Springs; father, W.E. Thornton; mother, Etta Mae Thornton; seven sisters and two brothers.
