AGED CITIZEN HAS PASSED AWAY

Sivert Marvig Died Tuesday After Several Weeks' Illness

Sivert Marvig died peacefully Tuesday evening, at six o'clock, at his home; surrounded by all his children.

He was born Nov. 9, 1828, at Marvik, near Stavanger, Norway. He was taken sick March 19 and has been gradually failing ever since, old age being the cause of death, he being in his eighty-eighth year.

He came to America in 1854, in a sailing vessel from Stavanger to Quebec. He arrived in the Fox river district the same year, and later settled near Morris, in Grundy county, Illinois, where he resided about forty-four years, a member of the Lisbon church.

Mr. and Mrs. Marvig moved to Story City in time to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary, Sept.4, 1904, on which occasion their children and twenty-two grand-children were present. At their sixtieth anniversary, 1914, fifty-two members of the family including those by marriage, were present. Eight grandchildren and greatgrandchildren were absent.

He leaves his wife and eight children, viz: Martin O. Marvick, Joseph Marwick, Mrs. Mary Hanson, and Miss Margretha of Story City; Sam S. Marvick and Mrs. Celia Osmon of Morris, Ill.; Rev. Louis S. Marvick, Black River Falls, Wis.; Hon. Andrew Marvick, Sisseton, S. D.

There are also thirty-five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mr. Marvig was a member of the United Norwegian Lutheran church, and the funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. T. T. Heimarck at the church, at 2 o'clock and at the house at 1:30 this (Thursday) afternoon. Interment will be made in Fairview cemetery.
