Charlie was born May 9, 1942, in Akron, to Charles F. and Beulah M. (Boltz) Shiley and grew up in the Bettsville area.
Charlie is survived by two daughters, Lucille (William) Brower of Smithfield, N.C., and Sherry (Andre) Guererro of Manchester, Tenn.; his longtime companion, Cindy Thompson, and her two children, Shelly Doll and David Carter, all of Fostoria; a brother, Herman F. (Nancy) of Clarksville, Tenn.; two sisters, Charlotte (Paul) Lucius of Burgoon and Linda Dawson of Tiffin; six grandchildren, Laura Schwartzenberger, Paul Schwartzenberger, Alexandre Guerrero, Heather Slusher, Johnathan Mosley and Breanna Orndorff; and three great-granddaughters, Maddisyn, Ava and Angela.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ted.
Charlie served his country proudly from 1959-1963 in the U.S. Marine Corps, deployed to Japan, Korea and Vietnam. He earned the rank of PFC2, the Good Conduct Medal and was an M1 rifle expert. He was also an avid fisherman for most of his life and loved to be at a lake or reservoir when his health would allow it.
Th ere will be no funeral at this time and a private burial will take place at a later date.
