Funeral services for John Milton Schoonmaker, 59, were held Tues. at 2 PM at the Hatch chapel where the body was taken Sunday. Mr. Schoonmaker and his two daughters, Mrs. Roy Williamson of Coggon and Mrs Clarence Boutelle of Rochester, Minn were enjoying a week end together in a cabin on the Wapsie river northwest of Central City. Mr. Schoonmaker suffered a heart attack and medical aid was summoned. Death occured about midnight Sat. Burial was made in Mount Clark cemetery. Mr.Schoonmaker was born May 24, 1878 in Winnebago, Ill. He came to Linn county at the age of eight years and grew to manhood in this vicinity. He was married to Bessie Ellsworth in 1902 and lived on a farm near Paris until 1911 when he moved to western S.D. Mrs. Schoonmaker died in 1916 and Mr. Schoonmaker went to Okla. where in 1931 he was married the second time. About a year ago he returned to Iowa. Surviving are his widow of Eisinore, Calif., one brother, William, of Palisade, MN., three daughters, Mrs. Fred Annen of Claude, TX.; Mrs. Roy Williamson of Coggon, and Mrs Clarence Boutelle of Rochester, MN. There are 13 grandchildren.
