Authur Otis Renfrow Jr. 69, died, peacefully at his home attended by his family Saturday, Feb. 1, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 1997, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco, with the Rev. Msgr. Mark Deering officiating. A memorial Mass will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 1997, at St. Louis Catholic Church.
Mr. Renfrow was born July 30, 1927, in Waco to Esther Tiner Renfrow and Arthur Otis Renfrow Sr. He was a 1944 graduate of Waco High School and received a BBA degree from Baylor University in 1949. Mr. Renfrow served in the Army during 1945-46.
During a professional career in accounting and finance, he was employed in Houston, Texas, by Farnsworth & Chambers Construction Co., Danaho Refining Co. and General Crude Oil Co. His employment with General Crude Oil began in March 1957 and ended with his retirement in 1981 from Mobil Oil Co., which had just previously acquired General Crude Oil Co. He retired in order to assist in the founding and management of Elder Development Co., a Louisiana corporation. He served as president and general manager from 1980 to 1985, continuing in an advisory capacity until his death. Both his work with Junior Achievement and. his work as an original member of the newly formed St. Cyril Catholic Church gave him great pleasure.
All the days of his life, He gave to his family and friends selfless love, unfailing devotion and wise, kind counsel. We will always treasure the memory of his quiet, strength, steadfast character, gentle wit and warm, loving heart.
Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Arthur Renfrow of Terlingua, Texas; a daughter, Ann-marie, Elder Renfrow of Houston, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Matthew Hunt and Tiffany Renfrow of Houston; a sister, Vivian Renfrow Singletary, and brother-in-law, Cecil Singletary, of Waco; his beloved aunt, Veta Tiner , of Waco, whom ,he cherished as a second mother; an aunt, Launa Renfrow Tompkins of Corsicana, Texas; an aunt, Louese Robinson Tiner of Waco; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was joyously awaiting the birth of his first grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family, requests donations be made to the A.O. Renfrow Memorial Tarahumara Mission fund, 1200 Rambler, Waco, Texas 76710.
