John Wesley Gregory Jr., 78, of 3067 Jonesville-Lockhart Highway, Union, husband of Lorena Hyder Gregory, died at his residence Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, at 5:15 p.m. after an extended illness.
Mr. Gregory was born in Adamsburg on April 20, 1926, a son of the late John Wesley Gregory Sr., and Eura Burgess Gregory. He was a graduate of Clemson University Class of 1951 and had been a member of IPTAY for 42 years. He was a member of Philippi Baptist Church and a member of the Spartanburg Cattleman’s Association and was formerly employed with Carolina Eastern. Mr. Gregory was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving in addition to is wife are two daughters, Glynda Karabinos and husband Jerry of Spartanburg and Betsy Stone and husband Bobby of Belmont, N.C.; a son, John Wesley Gregory III and wife Linda of Simpsonville, six grandchildren, Meredith Karabinos and Allison Karabinos, both of Spartanburg, Charlie Stone of Belmont, and Lindsay Gregory, Abigale Gregory and Wesley Gregory, all of Simpsonville. Mr. Gregory was predeceased by two sisters, Margaret G. Boyd and Nancy G. Hinson.
