A native of Guilford County, he was the son of the late Louise Shoffner Henderson and J. Edwin Henderson of Pleasant Garden.
He was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Greensboro and attended services at Springfield Friends Meeting in High Point.
He attended Guilford College and later served four years with the United States Air Force in Texas, Mississippi, and Guam. A Certified Flight Instructor for 40 years, he was a member of the North Carolina Aviation Museum. He retired in 2008 from the Goodyear Tire Plant in Asheboro, and spent his free time restoring classic MGs.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 44 years, Camilla Lowe Henderson of the home; two daughters, Bethany Henderson Ballard and husband Michael of Warner Robins, Georgia and Erin Camille Henderson and Jason Morris of Seattle, Washington; two grandsons, Braden Michael Ballard and Preston James Ballard. He is also survived by two brothers, David L. Henderson and wife Beverly, of Pleasant Garden and Joel Henderson of Tampa, Florida; one aunt, Thelma Henderson Schoolfield of Winston Salem; father-in-law, Thomas "Chester" Lowe of Greensboro.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 23 at Springfield Friends Meeting, High Point at 2:30 p.m. with burial following at Burnetts Chapel United Methodist Church, Greensboro. The family will receive friends following the burial in the Burnetts Chapel Fellowship Hall.
