ALMETA CHAVIS

CAYCE -- Services for Almeta Chavis, 88, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in State Street Baptist Church of Cayce, conducted by Dr. Pete Cassidy and Mr. Steve Hallman, with burial in Southland Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to State Street Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be John T. Hook, Olin Hallman, Harold Hallman, Gerald Johnson, Rodney Brinkley, Josh Cutro, Barry Hallman and Steve Hallman. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this (Tuesday) evening at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia.

Miss Chavis died Sunday, April 1, 2001. Born in Norway, she was the daughter of the late Mance and Talulah Gleaton Chavis. A local resident since 1970, formerly of Norway, she was a member of State Street Baptist Church. She was predeceased by a sister, Annie L. Hallman, and brothers, Charles Chavis and Ollen Chavis.

Surviving are her sister, Dovie Hires of Orangeburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
