JACK WELCH
J. D. Welch, 81, 424 S. Adams, died Tuesday at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Smith Funeral Chapel with the Revs. David Houchin and Alvin Hedin officiating. Burial will be at Green Hills Memorial Gardens. (Sapulpa, OK)

Mr. Welch was born Aug. 14, 1908, in Cornerville, Ark.

A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He retired from the Pure Oil Company (Union Oil of California) after 43 years of service. An area resident since 1930, he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sapulpa, and the Kiefer Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include wife, Irene; daughter Diann McDaniel of Sapulpa; two grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Note:
J. D. was his real name. He was born to Will WELCH and Nancy Ann FRANCIS Welch. (I believe Nancy's maiden name was WOOD, as her brother was J. E. "Lige" Wood.)

It states on his birth certificate that Nancy had another living child at the time of his birth, but J. D. never mentioned this child.

J. D. was married to Effie Harriett NEWMAN of Feenyville, on Oct. 31, 1927 in El Dorado, Union Co., AR who preceeded him in death in 1965.

In August, 1966, he married Irene WRAY WILSON, who was the daughter of Preacher G. G. WRAY and Cordelia NALL Wray.

Irene was raised in Glendale and owned a beauty salon in Pine Bluff. She passed away, January 3, 1999.
