Elizabeth C. "Betty" Butler, 89, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at 8:35 p.m. at the West Point Care Center. She was born on May 10, 1923 in Fort Madison, IA to Joseph A. & Wilhelmina J. Peterschmidt Hatala. She married William Joseph Butler on September 29, 1947 in Fort Madison, IA. He preceded her in death on October 1, 2002. She enjoyed being a homemaker and after her children were grown, she worked in the office at the Sheaffer Pen Company and was a member of Ss. Mary & Joseph Church. She enjoyed her retirement home in Zolfo Springs, Fl with her husband and loved crossword puzzles, reading and had a great sense of humor. She was a very loving person and was loved by all of her friends and family.
Betty is survived by: 2-daughters: Barb (Bill) Sahs of Lincoln, IL & Peggy (Dave) Cecil of Farmington, IA; 4-sons: Mike Butler of Zolfo Springs, FL, Jim (Terri) Butler of Fort Madison, IA, Tom (Renate) Butler of Fort Madison, IA, & Joe (Sue) Butler of Burlington, IA; 10-
grandchildren; 3-step grandchildren; 7-great grandchildren; 5-step grandchildren; 1-brother: Norman Hatala of Fort Madison, IA & 1-sister in law: Mary Claire Davis of Casa Grande, AZ. She was preceded in death by: her parents, husband, 1-granddaughter: Abby, 2-brothers & 1-sister.
Per her wishes, her body has been cremated by King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2012 with the family to receive friends from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday evening at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 28, 2012 at Ss. Mary & Joseph Church with Rev. Mark P. Spring officiating. Burial will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
