Alanson Dunham, an old resident of this place, died at his home December 31, 1898, aged 89 years and 5 months. Mr. Dunham was born in the town of Marcellus, N.Y., in the year 1809. His father's family moved from Marcellus when he was a small lad and Mr. Dunham has lived in this place up to his death except two years that he lived in Central Square, N. Y. He was one of a family of nine children of whom all are dead except one sister, Mrs. Juliette Dodge who is eighty years old. He was married January 1,1833, to Miss Perlina Foster. Mrs. Dunham died September 29, 1893. Since Mrs. Dunham's death Mrs. Dodge, Mr. Dunham's sister, has lived with him. He had a family of five boys and one girl who are all dead except one son, Harlman Dunham, of Milwaukee, Wis. In 1844 he and his wife and a large number of others united in forming a prosperous Wesleyan Methodist church. He was a member of that church at the time of his death. Mr. Dunham has always interested in politics, and was always a Republican. His funeral was held at the M. E. church January 4th, Rev. J. Showers officiating. Burial in Jacksonville cemetery.
