William "Bill" Ipson Lang was the tenth child born to his parents, John Mickelsen Lang and Annie Maria Ipson.

He was 12 years old when his mother died and his father married his second wife later that year. Bill moved to Salt Lake City and worked for Baldwin Radio Factory until it closed down and then went to work on a farm. He moved to Firth, Idaho where he met his wife, Margaret Pike. They were married January 24, 1929. They had four children and were later divorced. He later married Benita Reeves and on February 9, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Bill died on November 18, 1982 and was buried in the Salt Lake City Cemetery on November 22, 1982. Benita passed away on February 8, 1997 and was buried beside Bill in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
