Ena Road in Waikiki is named after John Ena.

"From the Los Angeles Herald December 13, 1906:

LONG BEACH, Dec. 12.— John Ena, a wealthy retired Hawaiian planter and capitalist, died at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Long Beach hospital of a complication of diseases. He was a native of Hilo, on the Island of Hawaii, but nearly all of his life had been spent in Honolulu, where he had extensive business Interests. At the time of his retirement from business two years ago he was president of the Interisland Steamship company. When a young man Ena entered the employ of this corporation as a bookkeeper.

Mr. Ena first came to Long Beach seven years ago, where he purchased a home at Elm and Ocean avenues, which he owned until the time of his death. He spent only the summers here, however, when he came over from the Inlands to visit with his children who, during the winter months, attended school near San Francisco. Last August he returned to this city intending to sell his Honolulu holdings and reside here permanently. While he had been in ill health for some time his death resulted from a complication which set in very recently. He had been in the local hospital only a week and before that was in a Los Angeles hospital for a short time. He was 61 years old. A widow, two sons and five daughters survive him, all of whom are in Long Beach. The body will be taken to Honolulu for burial."
